If you are a faculty or staff member who is enrolled in either Office 365 Education Plus or Office 365 ProPlus, follow these steps to download Microsoft Office for your PC or Mac, as well as the mobile versions of the apps for your iOS or Android device.

Office 2011 for Mac support has ended. Upgrade to Microsoft 365 to work anywhere from any device and continue to receive support. Important: This feature is available on Lync for Mac only if the desktop sharing session is initiated from a Windows-based computer. Following the announcement of the Lync client for Mac availability, Office 365 customers are now able to download it for use with their Office 365 account. From what I read at this link, Lync should be available to the public. However, it says you need Lync Server which comes with 'Office 365'. We already have the business version of Office 2011 for Mac, where do I get lync and why isn't there a download link for Lync? Seriously confusing. Update Office from the Mac App Store. If you downloaded Office from the Mac App Store, and have automatic updates turned on, your apps will update automatically. But you can also manually download the updates: Open the Mac App Store from your Dock or Finder.

PC

Download and install Microsoft Office for the PC

1. Sign in to Office 365 by visiting outlook.com/uci.edu.
2. In the upper-right of your screen, select the Gear icon and then select Office 365 Settings.
3. On the Settings page, under the heading Software, select Install Software.
4. On the Office page, select a Language, and then choose Install to install the 32-bit version. Note: To install the 64-bit version, choose 64-bit in the Version section before you choose Install. If you’re uncertain, click the link labeled Which version is right for me?
5. At the bottom of the screen, select Run.
6. Follow the prompts and accept the license agreement.
7. When you see “You’re good to go,” select All done.

Mac

Download and install Microsoft Office for the Mac

1. Sign in to Office 365 by visiting outlook.com/uci.edu.
2. In the upper-right of your screen, select the Gear icon and then select Office 365 Settings.
3. On the Settings page, under the heading Software, select Install software.
4. On the Software page, select Office in the left column and then select Install.
5. When prompted, Save the file to your Downloads folder.
6. In your Downloads folder, double-click the installer and follow the prompts to install Office for the Mac.

Note: Unlike the PC version of Office, neither Skype for Business nor OneDrive for Business are currently bundled with Office for the Mac.

To install Skype for Business (known as “Lync for Mac 2011”).

1. When the installation of Office is complete, go back to the Software page in your browser where you downloaded Office.
2. In the left column, select Skype for Business and then select Install.
3. When prompted, Save the file to your Downloads folder.
4. In your Downloads folder, double-click the installer and follow the prompts to install Lync for Mac 2011.
